HikeWare Aluminium Hiking Poles

Well I have tried these skiing, skinning, walking and hiking and they worked perfectly for each discipline.I liked the quick/easy adjustment (friction nut, clamp mechanism), which were very secure when closed, even for skiing.The straps are easily adjusted for bigger, or smaller loops. Whilst the poles can be extended to a long 135cm which should be enough for most people even giants possibly.There is an excellent selection of accessories of which I have so far used 3 out of the 4 provided and I have been satisfied with the performance of all of them.They appear to be constructed of a good quality materials that should last. Basically, they are not super light as they are made from 7075 duraluminium, a high-strength, heat-treatable wrought aluminium alloy so they can take knocks and falls. However, they are not heavy and if walking you can either use one or two to assist your progress.The grip/handle is quite large which I liked.The large end to the handle was suitable shaped for pushing whilst skinning/skiing/hiking, spread the forces over the palm.The poles come in a nice pouch with a pocket to keep the accessories in, which is good as otherwise I am sure I would lose some accessories if I did not have that.All-in-all I thought these were well designed and should last a long time.At just under £30 these seem reasonable for the quality and options and, as previously stated, they should last many years. My last pair I purchased in about 1999 and I still have them, although the baskets have been replaced a few times and a minor repair has been undertaken and they look about the same quality.

I used these trekking poles on a 15 mile trek over the weekend and was very impressed.They come in a very nice carry bag and some additional end stops are supplied within the case pocket - these are angled as opposed to the flat ends that are already fitted.Extending the poles to suite my height and comfort was very easy via the robust clips that hold the two telescopic poles in place - each telescopic section has the length marked on, both up to 135 CM each, so there is no problem at all adjusting to your ideal length.The cork grips were very comfortable and being cork, they did not slip making the trekking problem free - the overall use of these poles actually made my trek very easy over a mixture of grass and concrete.As mentioned in my headline, these poles are very study - this is due to them being made out of steel tube as opposed to aluminum - this of course increases the weight, I checked the weight and they are about 0.7KG (the pair) which is not too bad.All-in-all, these are very nice trekking poles that should last a very ling time due the the great quality

These hiking poles arrived in their own carry/storage pouch inside a plastic bag.The pouch is made of tough nylon ‘Oxford’ fabric with a mesh pocket for storing the supplied spare ferrules and has drawstring neck.The poles are reasonably light but strong with a large amount of adjustment for length. They’re telescopic with friction locking latches that can be adjusted for tightness with a metal thumbscrew. ‘Stop’ points are clearly shown to prevent over extending the poles. Extending or collapsing the poles can be done in a couple of seconds. The cork handles are particularly comfortable as are the padded (easily adjustable) wrist straps.There are normal (screw on) ferrules fitted but flat surface ferrules are also included along with screw on mud and snow cups. These cups are held on plastic clips which also hold the poles together for easy storage and handling. Under the ferrule is the usual tungsten carbide tip for rocky terrain.I recently got some carbon fibre poles of the folding type but didn’t get on with them because of the lack of adjustment. I sometimes like to shorten my poles so that I can lean on the top of them (like a normal walking stick) but the folding ones simply wouldn’t go short enough to do this. These are much better! I have attached a picture of them at shortest and longest adjustment against a door for scale. I’ve also attached a picture of my partner holding one (she’s 5’9”).I haven’t had these poles long enough to comment on their long term durability or performance but I’ll update this review if there’s anything to report. I’m going walking in the Peaks in a couple of weeks so I’ll get a much better idea of how these perform.The folding carbon fibre poles I got were almost twice as expensive as these, not as convenient or comfortable and were even slightly heavier!At £29.99 for the pair of poles, carry/storage bag and spare ferrules/cups these are excellent value and I can’t find any reason not to give them 5 stars.

There's much to like with these poles which have a well-thought out design. From the cork handles which are warm to touch to the ease in which these poles can be quickly assembled. The carry bag is the icing on the cake.

From the moment I unpacked these I started to notice tge extra details and quality of tge build. From the Cork handgrips, through to the padded wrist straps.I even like the fact that the come clipped together and that the mud baskets and snow baskets attach directly to tge clips.Even the bag has a mesh pocket on the outside to keep the various tips in so you don't get the inside of the bag and those comfortable grips & straps all mucky.There are tips for pretty much every terrain including one set I have no idea what they're for. The snow baskets are tge largest I've ever seen measuring a full 10cm in diameter.I would've preferred it if these were the folding type so they'd have fitted more easily into my backpack but after seeing them I'm happy that they're not as I can't actually remember the last time I carried poles packed up... I'm usually walking with them anyway.Difficult to weight due to their length but each pole with no tip attached seems to weigh around 285 grams so not the lightest on the market but they're strong!I do recommend these for hiking but might get a bit heavy over long distances.I hope this review/recommendation helps you in choosing the right poles for you.

I have a bit of a collection of walking poles for different uses. My first impression unboxing these poles was that they were a little heavier than my go to pair which are twist locked. But that was incorrect, they are actually longer and lighter by 20g than my current pair. Extension is really easy, snap up the locks, pull the tubes out to the required length and snap closed. There is a friction nut to tighten the lock grip, but on the supplied setting I couldn't get the pole to collapse once set. There is no stop on the poles so they can be inadvertently pull out of each other, but it's not a fiddly business to reassemble, but a stop would be better.The cork hand grips are ergonomic and very comfortable in hand. The fabric wristbands are padded and Velcro adjustable which is an improvement over buckles. The poles come with a variety of feet i generally use just the metal point, which on these poles appears to be tungsten steel and covered by a screw on rubber foot. Easy to remove, but also easily lost. There is a useful carry bag supplied with a zip pocket to keep the feet together. Overall I find these poles well made, practical and good value. The manufacturer has put thought into the design, for example 2 of the feet can be used to secure the poles together for easy transportation and they are long enough to be usable by anyone up to 6' tall.My only gripe is that they don't have an anti shock spring, which is commonly omitted with snap fastener poles, but the well designed grips make up for it.

Good quality hiking poles. Numerous different attachments and a strong carbide tip. I like the way the poles are held together, better than the usual velcro tie that others use. Comfy grip and wrist straps.

HikeWare Set of 2 Adjustable Trekking Poles.A very decent set of walking poles easy to adjust comfortable handles and a padded straps.They come in a carry bag with a separate pocket for storing the feet.I have to admit I did have some trouble getting the poles back into bag especially when the feet are in the designated pocket but that could just be me. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Hi, a nice set of poles in a carry case with extra bits if needed, me and the wife are at an age where we need some assisting when we go on long treks as we not far from peak district, we have the carbon fibre poles that twist lock but they get stuck sometimes and its hard to untwist but we've had them for a few years and they've done us good, these seem ok with the quick release, its easy to use and they seem to lock in tight when force is pulled down on them, the cork handles seem a bit unusal to the plastic grips we have but still comfy in the hands, we havent gone on a trek yet just been trying them out but they seem a good set with what you get and will be useful 😀

I'm a keen fell walker and long-distance hiker and am based in the Lakes, so I've used a fair selection of poles.These days the budget offerings are often very close in quality to the big brands at 2-3 times the price. These Hikeware poles are no exception.- You are getting the same 7075 aircraft-grade aluminium shafts are you'll find on the premium products. This is a standardised alloy so should offer comparable performance. This is a little heavier than carbon fibre poles, but is much stronger and more reliable - especially at the lower end of the market. So if you walk on rough ground, aluminium is probably your best bet unless you are unusually light.- The clamps are pretty standard. You can adjust the tension with a thumbscrew and they seem to hold reliably. The two bottom sections have painted lengths - so if you want a 120 cm pole you set it to 120 on both sections.- The handles are cork. I have sweaty hands and much prefer this to plastic, though they will likely have a shorter lifespan.- The straps are nicely padded. I find them a little harder to adjust than some others, but they are still fit for purpose.- Compared to some other offerings in this price range, the poles come with an excellent range of accessories. You get summer and winter baskets, tips for hiking and Nordic walking, a useful travel clamp and a decent pouch.Finally, in a market where many of the offerings are rather garish, this comes in a discreet black. As an bit of an old crock myself, I rather prefer this.So to summarise - a very competent pair of budget hiking poles.

Day after these HikeWare Trekking Poles were delivered I ripped my calf muscle apart so a delay in using them.I've tried them only on pretty smooth terrain as I'm still recoverin from the injury, no steep hills.Comfort: pretty good. Solid stable an good hand grips. They dinaa have any shock absorbing unlike some other brands, but still good.Adjustment: pull out levers that allow adjustment, no slip noticed, but a wee bit hard with cold hands.Durability: seem fairly robust, though as mention not used on steep terrainThe tips an covers that come with the poles are as good as most poles in similar price range.I pair hard ground caps, standard circular like narrow walkin stick ends, they worked well and held up as tent pole in a tarp shelter solidly.2 different sized hard ground boots (yes, they look like boots an they go down on the toes. which I disliked). They are literally like a pair of boots, so easy to place down sideways. I found them far less stable than simple circular hard ground tipsSnow tips slighter larger (tri-sided) than most of the usual circular tips I have. No chance to test these in snowMud tips worked ok, even though fairly smooth terrain, the 3 months plus of rain we've had left ground verra wet and soft.I found the poles about average for the price range and material.Overall, reasonable cheap walking/hiking poles.

As recommended at a Falls clinic appointment, rather than hiking, I got these as an alternative to a walking stick for balance and support. They are strong, compact and fairly lightweight. There are quick release clips that let you set the height very easily and quickly. The storage bag is strong nylon fabric and a good way to keep them out of the way when not in use.The cork handgrip allows me to keep my hand fairly vertical, which reduces strain on the wrist when I only need a stick for balance. If I need stronger support, I can use the top of the cane, which is shaped very much like a Victorian gentleman's cane.There are several different feet for these sticks, together with accessories, such as soft ground or snow circles, which are more relevant to serious hikers.

I thought to try this out during a recent trip to a nearby hill and it has been amazing! The packaging includes a number of accessories as well which you can decide to use or not.The grips are made of cork and are comfortable which is great if you sweat a lot from your hands. The wraparound the wrist is nice and allows for free movement.The carry case is perfect to keep it safe for any water ingress but wouldn't call it completely sealed.The actual locking mechanism means that you can just twist it to get them locked in to be placed in the bag again.The heights available are clearly marked for the different options across both with no confusion about them being the same height.Overall, a really great hiking pole that will help anybody out!

These hiking poles feel like a quality product, The cork handles are comfortable and nicely shaped, with grooves on the back (where your palm is) which helps with gripping the pole. The wrist strap is easily adjustable for size. The poles themselves are made from 7075 duraluminium, a high-strength, heat-treatable wrought aluminium alloy.They adjust to a maximum length of 135cm, enough for all but the very tallest. The finish on the poles looks very nice. The adjusters are easy to use and hold the position VERY firmly. I have found on other poles, these adjusters can be very stiff and don't hold particularly well. These poles do not suffer from that.All in all a very nice set of poles, which come with a drawstring bag and additional feet for soft ground.A recommended buy.

They are nearly as good as my other ones which were 2x the price. Not as light though which is where the cost savings most likely went. They have a good range of adjustment and are comfortable to hold and use. Perfectly good for hiking.

You shouldn't use one stick at a time, a lot. It's bad for your posture. This is a double stick kit so immediately is better for you. Very collapsible and compact. Very comfy cork handles. Straps for your hands. Different shaped feet for different terrains. Really is an all-in-one package.They're very sturdy on our dale walks. Felt easy in hand. Highly recommend.
